We turned one hundred.
It is not a birthday.
We have turned one hundred thanks to our 100 generous members who have invested financially in our organization. These members believe in our mission and the work that we do, and support our leadership in making Jefferson Park Forward a voice in the community. Of our 100 members, 76% are regular members living in our boundaries, 12% are associate members living outside our boundaries but have an interest in Jefferson Park, and 12% are business members.
It is easy to forget that none of this was expected. Given our beginnings as a new organization in a neighborhood with competing organizational interests, we have worked particularly hard to show our neighbors and the community the value that JPF provides. We are a pragmatic group interested in getting things done in the community. When you say “someone should fix it” or “someone should do something about it” we strive to be that “someone”. Community building is hard work and the politicians can’t do it by themselves. It is community organizations like ours that are the true building blocks of the neighborhood.
We’re extremely proud of the work we’ve done in the short time we’ve been around. And we’re not resting. It’s 2017, a new year, and there’s a lot to be done.
Thank you to our members for supporting us. We are ready to work with you this year to move Jefferson Park…forward.
