JPF Beer
Join Jefferson Park Forward and Lake Effect Brewing Company for a unique collaboration beer. Introducing our neighborhood collaboration beer with Lake Effect and brewer Phil Collins, we are proud to introduce Sheehan’s Farmhouse Ale, a golden-colored Saison beer. Phil was the winner of our JPF homebrew competition last fall. The grand prize from that competition was the opportunity to work with Clint Bautz and his crew at Lake Effect. We’re proud to have worked with JPF business member, Lake Effect Brewing Co., and with Phil to share this beer with all of you.
Sheehan’s Farmhouse Ale is coming to Jefferson Park. Check it out at our release party on March 2 and at local Jeff Park bars and liquor stores the week of March 4. The beer will be available on draft and in 750 ml bottles at the following locations, as supplies last:

The Competition
The JPF Homebrew Competition was held as a First Friday Happy Hour in November 2017. We had five homebrewers submitting beers for the grand prize: to scale up their beer at Lake Effect. These beers were:
- Phil Collins – Sheehan’s Farmhouse Ale (Saison)
- Santiago Espinosa – Altobier (altbier)
- Jeremy Hellyer – Adelaide’s Maple Pecan Porter
- Rob Lancaster – Chi-Town Saison
- Matt Shotick – Neighborly Pale Ale
The event was judged by professionals in the beer industry including Clint Bautz of Lake Effect Brewing, Trevor Rose-Hamblin of Old Irving Brewing Co. and Adi Hastings of Omega Yeast Labs.
The beer judges selected Phil’s beer as the winner. The runner-up winner was voted on by the crowd of 50 people at Lake Effect Brewery. Santiago Espinosa’s Altobier was the crowd favorite. He won a meal at Gale Street Inn.
