Jefferson Park Forward is aware that our sister neighborhood association, the Jefferson Park Neighborhood Association, has organized a community protest today at Alderman John Arena’s office to dispute the following developments:
- Long & Argyle (48 rental units, 4 stories)
- 6221-27 W. Gregory Street (subdivision of an existing parcel for construction of another single-family home)
- Ainslie & Lipps (102 rental units, 12 stories)
- 5201 W. Lawrence (39 units, 4 stories)
- 5629 W. Higgins (5 rental units)
- 4812 W. Montrose (16 rental units)
As a new neighborhood organization involved in many facets of community life, Jefferson Park Forward has decided not to take a formal position on any of these developments individually. However, our views regardingĀ development at large in the neighborhood is this:
Jefferson Park Forward supports development that is transit-oriented, pragmatic, well-designed and adds to the rich texture and history of Jefferson Park. As a neighborhood organizationĀ in Jefferson Park, we welcome all ideas when it comes to revitalizing our community and supporting local businesses.
We welcome opportunities for dialog when it comes to all neighborhood issues, including development, and respect our neighbors’ right to protest and seek redress from our elected officials.
