A little distance from 2020 and things are looking brighter. We get more daylight every day, vaccines are rolling out, and spring is here. As our neighborhood reopens and we move towards recovery, we will proceed cautiously, but optimistically.
JPF will continue to conduct our general meetings virtually for the next couple of months. Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, April 15 at 7pm. A representative from the Cook County Assessor’s Office will join us to discuss property taxes and answer questions. We’ll also hear from Jaclyn Crawford, founder of the Portage Park Treasure Box, who will share how this beloved neighborhood resource came to be. You can register for the meeting here.
Since we’re not meeting in person, let’s get some take out from a local business to enjoy during the meeting. We’ll order from JPF Business Partner Eris Brewery & Cider House. Get your orders in here and pick up before the meeting. Grab a few ciders and/or beers to sip on during the post meeting virtual social hour!
We hope to return to in person meetings later this summer. When we do, our goal is to continue to offer a way to participate and view the meeting remotely. That said, we are planning some outdoor gatherings and we invite you to join us. April’s JPF Walk will take place on Saturday, April 17 and we’ll celebrate Earth Day weekend with some community clean ups on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25. Check out those sections in this newsletter.
We are mindful of the difficult year we’ve left behind as we venture Forward with hope.
Be well.
